Cute cheap finds: Target and Goodwill

A big Goodwill opened in a nearby town we sometimes go shopping in. Goodwills around here have become SO expensive I barely shop there anymore - especially when I can buy brand new clothes at Old Navy or wherever for $5, why pay even more for used clothes? But the one good thing about them around here is that they get cast-offs from Target and other stores! It seems that overstock or clearance items that don't sell get sent to Goodwills, so there are tons of brand new things hanging around!

Today I saw tons of Christmas decorations, pajamas, shoes, comforters/bedding, and other stuff fresh from Target. Ironically, some of the Goodwill prices were higher than the clearance prices they didn't sell for at Target!

My find was this awesome pink leopard Mulberry for Target bag! It was originally $29.99 (and I'd eyed it in Target multiple times) but at the Goodwill for $10. Brand new with tags, of course! I also then stopped at Target and found another one - the teeny black one - for only $3.47 on clearance (normally $14.99)!

Then I found all this awesome V-Day stuff in Target's dollar section. Hand towels, cellophane bags, a cupcake rug, and little heart-shaped boxes.

Everything was $1 or $2.50! I love Valentine's Day, if not for just the massive amounts of cute stuff the stores all produce. Valentine's Day used to all be about sappy cards, velvet heart-shaped chocolate boxes, and stuffed animals holding hearts and/or candy. Now it seems like just an excuse to make adorable things, especially cupcake-themed things! Since when do cupcakes = Valentine's Day? To me, they're a year-round thing, but who cares, as long as they keep making cute stuff, right? :)

New Neutrogena Naturals!

I stumbled upon this new line at Target yesterday, Neutrogena naturals. Everything is free of dyes, parabens, chemical sulfates, petrochemicals, and phthalates! The ingredients are itemized and explained on the backs of all the prouducts.

So far the line includes cleanser, cleanser + makeup remover, scrub, bar soap, and lip balm - all very reasonably priced! I'm excited that major companies are taking the step to become more conscious of the chemicals they put into their products.

Check out their site here for more information!

Look at these two love bugs! Panini is always jumping on Deuce and usually bites or fights with him, but this time she started licking his head. What a cutie!

Crabtree and Evelyn haul!

I've been interested in Crabtree & Evelyn over the past few months after learning how awesome their Hand Therapy hand cream is. The store has been around forever but it's not one I ever really shopped at, it's always seemed a little old-fashioned and too expensive for my tastes. But there's something about the classic scents like rose and lavender that have been more appealing to me lately, so I found myself visiting once in a while, although not buying anything.

A few weeks ago there were signs for 50% off over certain displays. Thinking it was another after-Christmas sale, I didn't think much about it. But then I asked if a certain item was included in the sale, the lady said everything in the store was 50% off! The store was closing! While that's a bummer, it's only the store in that particular mall and not widespread. So I picked up a few tubes of Hand Therapy for 50% off. I asked if prices would be reduced further, and she said no.

So I was sure surprised when I stopped by the store this week to find everything 70% off! Everything in the store! Their inventory is a lot more appealing when it's 70% off, lol! So I spent far too long shopping around, and finally ended up with this:

Rosewater hat box - originally $65 - $19.50
Rosewater talc-free powder - originally $15 - $4.50
Lip butters - $7.50 each - $2.25
Natural lip balm with SPF - originally $9 - $2.70
Hand Therapy 25ml size - $5 each - $1.50

$114 worth of stuff for a total of $34.20! I was kicking myself when I left because I realized the mini Hand Therapy tubes were 3 for $12, meaning they would be 3 for $3.60 and I should have bought a 3rd (which would have been $0.60) but nothing I can do about it now.

So, what's the the hat box, you ask?? If the box weren't glorious and amazing by itself, it's filled with wonderful things too!

Rosewater Hand Therapy, bath & shower gel, hand & body lotion, and eau de toilette! I'm going to be smelling like roses from now on!! :)

Bath & Body Works' LUV BBW Club - January gift!

LUV BBW Club is a Bath & Body Works promotion. There was a limited sign-up available around Black Friday that I found out about and signed up, a few weeks later I got one of these cards in the mail. They're offering a free gift once a month between January and May - the catch is, you have to go on a Thursday. It's pretty inconvenient to get to the mall on Thursday, and I imagine that's the same with many people, which is probably the whole point of the promo!

Anyway, I managed to get to the mall on a Thursday to claim my free gift! The gift of the month was a hand wash of any kind or flavor ($5), as well as a PocketBac ($1.50) and holder (of the $0.50 variety), for a total gift value of $7!

I chose a moisturizing hand soap in the new scent Caribbean Escape, a sparkly blue PocketBac holder, and a PocketBac in the new "I love cake" scent. I have yet to try the Caribbean Escape soap, but I've anchored the PocketBac on my work tote and have been using it daily! It smells so good! The scent is buttercream, but to me it smells like angel food cake. The scent is pretty strong and leaves your hands scented for a while, which may give you cravings for real cake!

The holder idea is so clever, I feel like I should get more of them (I had my eye on the blinged-out black one, but that was $3 and didn't count towards the promo) although who knows where I'd hang more of them. Either way, I love free stuff and I'm excited to see what next month brings!

Free sample of new Natureluxe foundation

Yesss, I am so excited about this foundation! It's taken all my willpower not to buy it as soon as I first saw it in stores a few weeks ago! New products are always so expensive when they first come out, and so far there have been no coupons - so I'm waiting patiently until a good deal comes along. Now I have a sample to tide me over (and if we're lucky, a coupon will  be included)! Request your sample from Walmart here in the bottom right square.

Thanks to My Good Cents for the heads up!

Snowy Caturday

We had a little snowstorm yesterday which accumulated nearly 8 inches by the time it was done! The cats were dying to go outside and play, although they were a little confused as to why the were sinking!

Nearly $100 worth of beauty products for $16.28!

After a heads-up from The Makeup Drawer about getting Rimmel stuff for cheap (thank you so much! :D), I headed to my local CVS to see if I could score any deals.

I rarely go to CVS, and just opened a new Extra Care card in the fall because I'd lost mine - so I was quite surprised when the coupon printer gave me $3.50 in ECBs based on my quarterly usage - I'd only used it once that I can remember, and the transaction was only $4! So I had that to my advantage, plus three $2 off Rimmel coupons I printed from their Facebook promo.

I didn't realize that the Rimmel stuff is usually quite expensive, but the real deal was that some of it was marked down to 75% off! So most of their items were in the range of $1.50 to $3. There were also 50% to 75% off stickers on things all over the cosmetics area (just required a hunt to find them all) making for some sweet deals.

Here's a breakdown of the things I bought:

Rimmel eyeshadow quad: $8.49 marked down to $2.07, minus $2 coupon = $0.07
Rimmel mascara (plus bonus eyeliner): $10.49 marked down to $2.62, minus $2 coupon = $0.62
Rimmel lip gloss: $6.49 marked down to $1.62, minus $2 coupon = FREE plus $0.38 overage!
Almay pure blends powder: $11.49 marked down to $2.87
Almay pure blends foundation: $15.99 marked down to $3.99
Revlon eyeshadow singles (I bought two): $5.79 marked down to $1.47
Sally Hansen Natural Beauty blush: $11.99 marked down to $2.99
Sally Hansen Natural Beauty lip gloss: $12.79 marked down to $3.19
Renpure Organics hair treatment: $6.99 marked down to $3.50 (the sign said it would be $5-something, so it was even cheaper than I expected!)

For an added bonus, the hair treatment came with a ticket for a mail-in rebate for the price you paid, so I'll get that $3.50 back! I also got $7 in ECBs back for the purchase of two Revlon products! So while my total was $16.28 ($17.26 with tax), you could say it cost me under $6 for everything! The cost of everything at the original retail price would have been $96.30!

CVS also started a "Beauty Club" program. They handed me a ticket that said 10% off (the lady saw me making laps around the beauty section), but when you present it at checkout, it prints out a 10% coupon at the bottom of your receipt for your next beauty purchase. It has to be used within 3 days of today, and it's not valid on sale items. So I most likely won't be using it. But I will attempt to print out a few more Rimmel coupons and get to CVS again before my ECBs expire!

All this stuff for $2.25 - Target holiday clearance!

This past Sunday I hit up Target for their 75% off holiday clearance. I'm sure by now it's at 90%, but I doubt there's much left either. There was NO candy left at all, they were completely wiped out! There was a fair amount of decorations and Christmassy things left, but I stuck to the $1 bins, where all the pink dot items were 75% off too!

So I got everything in the above photo for 25c a piece - only $2.25 for everything! I got 3 Hello Kitty notepads, 2 clutch/wallet thingies, 2 folding brushes, a 2011 planner, and Mountain Dew Code Red lip balm. Of course, nothing was really necessary, but splurges that cost so little are always welcome in my book!

Send a free pack of tissues to someone you love!

Kleenex is having a "Softness Worth Sharing" promotion where you can send a free mini box of tissues to a friend. It's a cute little box with a limited edition design! You can only send one box to one person though, so ask a friend to send one to you!
